Ryadh Bouslama is a graduate in electrical engineering and industrial computing from ULT Tunisia. Before founding Pinhole together with his co-founder Nizar Menzli (pictured above) in 2012, he worked as an R&D engineer in laboratory research and development of MIELE appliances.

Pinhole is an innovative web application in HD quality targeting TV audiences. It offers an enhanced viewing experience by providing a social platform that allows its customers to comment and recommend TV shows on a second screen device like their mobile phones. Pinhole works via web tools that are integrated with TV receivers such as triple play.

What is your favorite part of being an entrepreneur?
Ryadh: Taking risks, this is my favorite part of being an entrepreneur. That excitement and sense of adventure that mark your entrepreneurial journey is priceless. I also like the fact of always testing new products, failing at some points, only to succeed the next time. Only an entrepreneur can go through all of this with an unremitting energy.

How do you generate new ideas?
R: We look at the needs and expectations of our target group and we try to get inspired by other social TV solutions abroad. We also brainstorm as a team and assess the technical and financial feasibility of any new idea together.

How do you define success?
R: I feel successful when I look around and feel that a great team that never loses its motivation surrounds me. It took me a long time to build this team and I am very proud of it. Success is also when you see your product spreading and gaining new markets. On another side, I feel successful when I see that I could manage to find a healthy balance between my professional and personal life.

What have been some of your failures and what have you learned from them?
R: The first startup I created failed. I worked on prototypes of embedded electronic cards designed for industrial use but I missed doing a study of the Tunisian market. I had to fail to understand that this market relies more on exported products rather than locally developed ones. Lesson learnt: you have to test the market thoroughly before launching your business.

What super power do you dream of having?
R: I wish I could fly. Flying is synonymous with freedom. I remember dreaming that I was flying and I still can remember the freshness and lightness I felt, though it was just a dream.
